CHICAGO – HUMBOLDT PARK | A 2-year-old boy was injured by an unsecured gun inside a home in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on Monday evening, according to the Chicago Police Department.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 8:26 p.m. along North Lawndale Avenue near West Ferdinand Street, where the child reportedly entered a bedroom containing an unsecured firearm. A man inside the residence heard a loud noise shortly after.
The boy had suffered a graze wound to his left wrist, police confirmed.
He was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently listed in good condition, as reported by NBC Chicago.
Police Recover Weapon, No One in Custody
Chicago police officers responding to the scene were able to recover the firearm used in the incident. As of Tuesday morning, no arrests had been made, and authorities did not confirm whether the weapon was legally owned.
The investigation remains ongoing.
