CHICAGO — Chicago police arrested 39 people during this year’s Pride Parade, including 16 who now face felony charges tied to violent conduct, illegal weapons possession, and resisting arrest, according to an official update from the Chicago Police Department.
The arrests were made on Sunday during and shortly after the 2025 Chicago Pride Parade, which drew over 800,000 attendees under the banner “United in Pride.”
Felony Charges Include Battery, Illegal Weapons, and Machine Gun Possession
The most serious offenses included aggravated battery to a peace officer, unlawful use of weapons, and illegal possession of high-capacity magazines and even a machine gun, police said.
One of the most disturbing incidents involved a 16-year-old male charged with possessing a machine gun or automatic weapon. In total, eight adults face multiple counts of aggravated battery against officers. Others were found to have hidden loaded firearms in vehicles and carried firearm silencers or metal-piercing bullets.
Details of the charges were outlined by FOX 32 Chicago, which confirmed police confiscated multiple illegal weapons and issued citations for alcohol and drug violations.
Parade Continued Amid Arrests
Despite the arrests and searing summer heat followed by bursts of rain, the parade proceeded without major disruption. Participants filled the city’s North Side with rainbow colors, music, and celebrations. No serious injuries were reported in connection with the arrests.
Parade organizers have already started planning next year’s event, which will mark the 55th anniversary of Chicago’s Pride Parade.
