Investigation Underway After 3 Shot in Carpentersville, Illinois

CHICAGO – A weekend shooting in the northwest suburb of Carpentersville left three people injured Sunday night, sparking an active police investigation into what authorities are calling a targeted attack.

Shots Fired in Residential Neighborhood

Carpentersville police responded to a 911 call about shots fired around 8:40 p.m. Sunday in the 0-100 block of Birch Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered three individuals — two men and one woman — had been shot during the incident.

Victims Transported to Hospitals

Emergency responders rushed all three victims to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. While police have not yet disclosed their current conditions, authorities confirmed that all three were alive as of Monday.

Investigators believe the shooting was not random, indicating the victims may have been specifically targeted.

No Arrests Yet as Police Investigate

As of Monday, no suspects had been taken into custody, and police have not released any information about possible motives or persons of interest. The Carpentersville Police Department said detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and analyzing evidence collected at the scene.

The department is urging anyone with surveillance footage from the area — including doorbell camera recordings — to come forward.

“This remains an active and ongoing investigation,” Carpentersville police said in a statement.

The incident has left many residents concerned, particularly as the neighborhood is typically considered quiet and family-oriented.
