Pride Month in Ravenswood Begins With a Double Rainbow Over Chicago

CHICAGO — Pride Month 2025 kicked off in the most magical way possible in Ravenswood — with a rare double rainbow arching over the skies just after a heavy June downpour, inspiring awe, unity, and reflection across the neighborhood.

Sky Lights Up Over Ravenswood As Pride Begins

The rainbow appeared on the evening of June 4, moments after rain subsided across the city. Residents paused in the streets, many capturing the breathtaking view over the Ravenswood skyline — a natural symbol of inclusion, beauty, and hope.

“There are certain moments that move everyone to stop whatever they’re doing… and simply look up, together, at something beautiful,” wrote Grace Pulliam of the Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce.

The timing couldn’t have been better: this serene display came just before a full slate of local Pride Month events set to take place throughout June.

Ravenswood’s Commitment to Inclusion

The Pride celebration is more than just events — it’s a statement of identity and resilience. The community has long served as a safe space for LGBTQ+ Chicagoans, and this year’s theme reinforces unity through diversity.

“We recognize that our diversity is our strength… and Ravenswood wouldn’t be where it is today without the voices of LGBTQ+ individuals helping to shape our neighborhood,” the Chamber’s post reads.

From yoga studios and breweries to local performance venues like the Joel Hall Dancers & Center, the entire community is leaning into Pride with intention and visibility.
