ILLINOIS — A recent enforcement operation by the Illinois State Police (ISP) led to citations against four businesses in Centralia for allegedly selling alcohol to minors during an undercover compliance detail.
The Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement (ACE) surveillance, which took place in Marion County, was conducted by ISP Zone 8 officers, who visited a total of 24 establishments. The goal of the ACE program is to reduce underage drinking and prevent impaired driving incidents by ensuring that businesses comply with liquor sales laws.
The following individuals were cited with class A misdemeanor charges for the sale of alcohol to a minor:
-
Ismael Moises-Oropeza, 37, of Centralia — cited at O.S. Tequila, Inc. in Fairview Shopping Center
-
Kristina Hargis, 52, of Centralia — cited at Aldi, Inc.
-
Marc Peterson, 42, of Centralia — cited at the Walmart Fuel Station
-
Tammy Crabtree, 50, of Centralia — cited at Arizona Joe’s on South Hickory Street
According to the report by Southern Illinois Now, these citations are part of a wider ISP initiative to ensure community safety and responsible alcohol distribution.
Most Businesses Compliant
Out of the 24 locations checked during the operation, 20 businesses passed the inspection and did not sell alcohol to underage individuals.
Commander Holly Finney of ISP Zone 8 praised the compliant establishments for their diligence and commitment to public safety. The enforcement project is part of a broader initiative funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to help reduce underage drinking-related crashes and fatalities.
