CHICAGO — With training camp approaching, speculation is heating up about which Chicago Bears position group is the team’s strongest in 2025. Opinions vary widely — from star wide receivers and a revamped offensive line to a battle-tested secondary — and the debate is drawing attention across fan circles.
Pass Catchers: Explosiveness and Depth
Writers like Jeff Berckes, Johnathan Wood, and Bryan Orenchuk backed the Bears’ wide receiver and tight end corps, highlighting Rome Odunze, DJ Moore, and Luther Burden III as standout talents with explosive upside.
“When guys like Tyler Scott, Olamide Zaccheaus, and former 3rd rounder Devin Duverney are vying for a roster spot, you have a pretty strong group,” said Orenchuk.
Tight ends Cole Kmet and Colston Loveland, along with running back D’Andre Swift’s receiving skills, add depth to the aerial attack.
“This group should never have a problem putting quality pass catchers on the field,” added Wood in the Windy City Gridiron roundtable.
Offensive Line: Pro Bowl Pedigree
Analysts like Ryan Droste, Gary Baugher Jr., and Lester A. Wiltfong Jr. made a compelling case for the offensive line, citing elite talent and cohesion across the unit. With Joe Thuney, Darnell Wright, Drew Dalman, Jonah Jackson, and rookie Ozzy Trapilo, this group may be the backbone of the offense.
“The Bears have two top-20 tackles, the second-best guard per PFF, and one of the best centers in football,” said Baugher.
Secondary: Led by Jaylon Johnson
Others favored the defensive backs, noting the presence of All-Pro-caliber corner Jaylon Johnson, a rebound year for Tyrique Stevenson, and veteran safety Kevin Byard guiding the group. Contributors TJ Starman and Dr. Mason West emphasized the group’s playmaking potential.
“Jaylon Johnson is the best player on the team… and Brisker is poised to bounce back,” West noted.
