ILLINOIS — Ellie Banke, a rising musician from Downers Grove, has captured international attention after performing with Ed Sheeran in London — all thanks to a viral TikTok cover of his song Dive.
TikTok Fame Leads to London Stage
Banke, 24, began sharing her music on TikTok in 2022. Her soulful cover of “Dive” drew massive attention, ultimately gaining over 20 million views and sparking a fan-driven campaign to connect her with Sheeran.
“I’ve loved Ed Sheeran since I was 12,” Banke told CBS Chicago. “I didn’t expect this to happen.”
Ed Sheeran Responds to Fan Support
After being tagged by thousands of fans, Sheeran took notice. In a heartwarming gesture, he flew Banke and her family to London, where the two rehearsed and performed Dive together. The duet was shared on both of their platforms, sending Banke’s popularity soaring.
