Chicago Police Warn Residents After Bold Armed Robberies Across Three Neighborhoods

CHICAGO — A series of daylight armed robberies in Fulton Market, West Town, and Tri-Taylor on June 19 has prompted the Chicago Police Department (CPD) to issue an urgent community alert. Authorities are now urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity tied to the crimes.

What Happened

In the span of less than 20 minutes, three armed robberies occurred:

  • 10:12 AM – 200 block of North Elizabeth St (Fulton Market)

  • 10:23 AM – 400 block of North Ashland Ave (West Town)

  • 10:29 AM – 800 block of South Claremont Ave (Tri-Taylor)

In each case, three masked men exited a black Acura sedan, threatened victims with handguns, and fled with stolen items. In one incident, a victim was pistol-whipped before the suspects fled the scene.

Suspect Descriptions

The offenders were described as:

  • 3 African-American males

  • Estimated age: 20–30 years old

  • Height: 6’00″–6’02”

  • Weight: 140–170 lbs

  • All were wearing hooded sweatshirts and black ski masks

Police noted that after each robbery, the suspects escaped in the same black Acura, which may bear tire marks or visible damage from the fast-paced getaways.

CPD Safety Guidance to Residents

In light of these events, the CPD is urging residents to take the following steps:

  • Do not resist if you’re being robbed — personal safety should come first

  • Observe details like scars, limps, tattoos, or accents that may help police

  • Immediately call 911 if you witness a crime — and do not touch anything at the scene

  • Report suspicious vehicles matching the description of the black Acura

  • Stay aware of surroundings during morning commutes or errands

The official CPD community alert contains full details and contact information for anyone with leads.

Protecting the Neighborhood Through Awareness

Residents in all three neighborhoods are reminded that quick response and collective observation can play a powerful role in helping law enforcement track repeat offenders.

“The boldness of these back-to-back attacks in broad daylight is a clear reason for increased caution,” CPD said.

The incidents come as citywide conversations continue around neighborhood safety, surveillance use, and police response times.
