Schererville Seeks Redevelopment Proposals for 22 W. Joliet Street Site

SCHERERVILLE, INDIANA — A vacant parcel near Schererville’s Town Hall could soon be transformed into a new retail and dining hub, as the town issues a Request for Proposal (RFP) for redevelopment of the property at 22 West Joliet Street.

Prime Location Near Town Hall

The 1.03-acre site, located just west of Town Hall, is being marketed by officials as a prime location for commercial growth. Town leaders envision the possibility of a restaurant and additional retail tenants, which could help strengthen Schererville’s downtown presence.

Officials noted that businesses developed within the Downtown Riverfront District may also qualify for exclusive liquor licensing, making the site an attractive option for hospitality or dining establishments.

RFP Submission Details

According to the Town of Schererville, sealed written offers must be submitted by 9 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025. At that time, proposals will be opened and read aloud.

Developers interested in pursuing the opportunity can obtain RFP packets at the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office, 10 E. Joliet Street, on weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Revitalization Gateway

Officials are highlighting the property as a gateway site for downtown revitalization. Aerial images show the cleared grassy lot with remnants of former driveway infrastructure, suggesting ease of redevelopment. Its close proximity to government offices and existing parking adds to the site’s appeal.

“The redevelopment of this lot represents a unique chance to expand our downtown identity,” town leaders emphasized in their statement.
