Upper Michigan Weather Alert: Patchy Fog and Showers Overnight Before Sunshine Returns Midweek

MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN — Drivers across Marquette County and the Upper Peninsula should prepare for patchy fog and spotty showers early Tuesday, with damp conditions lingering overnight before a stretch of sunshine returns by midweek.

Fog and Showers Early Tuesday

The National Weather Service in Marquette reported that visibility may fall to just a few miles during the early commute, especially along U.S. 41 and M-28 near Lake Superior. A 30% chance of showers will persist into the morning before skies turn mostly cloudy.

Temperatures will hover near 58°F overnight and climb only to around 68°F Tuesday afternoon, with light northeast winds bringing slightly drier air.

Midweek Improvements

Conditions will begin to shift Wednesday. While the morning may start cloudy, skies are forecast to clear by afternoon, allowing temperatures to rise near 70°F.

By Thursday, the region will see even more improvement with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s, creating comfortable conditions for outdoor activities across the Upper Peninsula.

Weekend Outlook

Rain chances briefly return Friday afternoon with the possibility of isolated showers after 2 p.m. However, the weekend is shaping up to be dry, sunny, and mild, with highs settling in the low 70s by Saturday.

Officials continue to advise motorists to allow extra travel time during foggy conditions and use low-beam headlights for safety on rural and lakeshore routes.
