Another Sweltering Day in South Florida as Heat and Humidity Persist

FLORIDA — South Florida is enduring yet another scorching day, with temperatures expected to climb into the low 90s and “feels-like” conditions reaching into the triple digits. The National Weather Service has not yet issued a heat advisory, but forecasters say it could happen if heat indices hit 105°F for two hours or more.

Morning Heat and Humidity Builds Quickly

The day began warm and muggy, with morning lows already in the low 80s, and the humidity pushing perceived temps into the 90s. According to CBS Miami meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez, the morning will remain mostly dry, but showers and isolated storms may develop around midday or in the afternoon, especially inland.

Boaters and Beachgoers See Favorable Conditions

Despite the heat, boating conditions remain calm. In Atlantic waters, expect light south winds at 5 knots with seas of 2 feet or less and smooth bay conditions. In the Florida Keys, southeast winds are holding at 5 knots, with only 1-foot seas and calm nearshore waters.

Beachgoers, however, are advised to exercise caution. The UV index is extreme, increasing the risk of sunburn, and though the rip current risk remains low, hydration and shade breaks are essential for those spending time outside.

Heat to Persist Through the Weekend

Thursday and the coming weekend offer little reprieve. Highs will stay in the low 90s, with “feels-like” temperatures well over 100°F due to humidity. Rain chances will remain at 20%, with spotty showers expected but no widespread storms.

A slight increase in rain chances is expected early next week, offering some hope for temporary relief. Until then, residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and use air conditioning when possible.
