AURORA, IL — Police are urging residents near the Fox Valley Mall area to remain indoors after an early morning shooting left the community on high alert. Authorities confirmed the shooter has not yet been located, prompting continued safety precautions.
Incident reported early Sunday morning
Aurora Police said the shooting occurred in the 500 block of Station Boulevard around 6:45 a.m. Sunday. Officers posted on social media that they were at the scene and advised residents to avoid the area, take alternate routes, and stay inside.
Shortly before 8 a.m., police issued an update stating that while the incident was no longer active, the suspect remained at large. Authorities emphasized that the request to shelter in place was purely precautionary as the search continued.
Police maintain heightened presence in the area
The Aurora Police Department told local media that additional officers were in the area to monitor the situation and maintain public safety. Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
