YORKVILLE — Authorities confirmed Sunday that a body has been located in the area where police were searching for 16-year-old Aiyana Williams, who was reported missing last Monday from the Country Hills subdivision.
The Yorkville Police Department made the somber announcement early Sunday, stating that although the identity of the deceased has not yet been officially confirmed, the body was discovered in a zone already under investigation due to Aiyana’s disappearance.
“It is with great sadness that the Yorkville Police Department confirms that a body has been located in the area of concern during the ongoing search for Aiyana Williams,” officials told local media, including WGN-TV and CBS News Chicago.

Williams was last seen in the Country Hills subdivision nearly a week ago. Since then, community members and law enforcement worked together using foot patrols, drones, and surveillance footage to help locate the teen.
