Bourbonnais Snapshot Camp Invites Young Photographers For Hands-On Summer Fun

BOURBONNAIS, IL — A summer photography camp just for little ones is coming to town, and it’s already creating a buzz among Kankakee County parents.

The Bourbonnais Park District has announced its upcoming “Snapshot Camp,” a three-day hands-on program for kids aged 3–5, giving children a chance to discover photography in a creative, supportive setting.

A Camp for Curious Young Creators

From August 6–8, children will gather each day from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Exploration Station in Bourbonnais. The camp is designed to teach kids how to see the world through a camera lens — not just on a phone screen — and create lasting visual stories.

For a $65 session fee, campers will:

  • Learn basic photo composition
  • Practice using different types of cameras
  • Engage in creative activities focused on visual storytelling
  • Work both independently and with group guidance

Children can bring their own camera or one will be provided by the camp.

Building Skills, Confidence, and Independence

The Snapshot Camp isn’t just about snapping photos. It’s also about:

  • Encouraging creativity and expression
  • Teaching observation and perspective
  • Allowing kids to build confidence through hands-on achievement

As a drop-off program, the camp offers a small dose of independence for young children in a safe and nurturing environment. Organizers say parents will love seeing the photos their kids bring home — tangible proof of both learning and fun.

Registration & Details

Parents interested in signing up their children can visit the Bourbonnais Park District’s website for registration details and additional information. The program promises to be a standout memory of the summer for the district’s youngest residents.

“Say cheese to a summer of discovery and creativity!”
