Chicago Artist Brendan Siddall Killed In DuSable Lake Shore Drive Hit-And-Run; Police Seek White Honda Accord

CHICAGO — A vibrant figure in Chicago’s music and theater community was killed in a tragic hit-and-run incident early Saturday morning along DuSable Lake Shore Drive in the Lake View neighborhood.

Brendan Siddall, 26, a beloved member and president of the Membership Council of the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus, was struck and killed by a vehicle around 3:30 a.m. while near the roadway. Siddall was pronounced dead at the scene, and police confirmed that the driver fled northbound without stopping.

Vehicle Involved Still At Large

Police are searching for a white 2019 Honda Accord bearing Illinois license plate FH49505, believed to have been involved in the collision. The car was last seen heading northbound from the crash site, and as of Monday, the driver has not been located.

Chicago Police’s Major Accidents Unit has taken over the investigation and temporarily closed the northbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Drive to collect evidence and document the scene.

A Loss Felt Across the Community

Siddall was widely known for their authentic personality and leadership in the arts community. In addition to their role with the Gay Men’s Chorus, they also performed regularly across the city’s theater and music stages.

Tributes have flooded social media, with friends describing Siddall as a “light to everyone” and an “inspiration for being authentically yourself.”

According to WGN-TV, Siddall’s impact reached beyond the stage, offering support and guidance to many in Chicago’s LGBTQ+ community.

“You were such a light to everyone you knew,” read one tribute.
“Brendan was an inspiration,” said another, underscoring Siddall’s openness and generosity of spirit.

Police Investigation Ongoing

The search for the suspect vehicle and driver remains active. Investigators urge anyone with dashcam footage or information related to the incident to contact police immediately.

As the community mourns Siddall’s untimely death, calls for increased safety on DuSable Lake Shore Drive continue, particularly in areas with frequent pedestrian traffic during early morning hours.
