CHICAGO — A 32-year-old Chicago man has been arrested and charged with criminal sexual abuse of a child following an investigation in the north suburban village of Glenview, police said.
The man, identified as Javier Sanchez, was taken into custody after authorities followed up on a report involving the alleged abuse of a juvenile. The incident reportedly occurred earlier this month inside a Glenview residence.
Police Say Incident Happened at a Private Home
According to investigators, Sanchez is accused of engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with a minor at a private residence in Glenview. Officials have not disclosed the exact address or the child’s age due to the sensitive nature of the case.
Glenview police confirmed the investigation began after a mandated reporter contacted authorities with concerns about the child’s well-being.
Suspect Arrested Without Incident
After gathering sufficient evidence, detectives issued a warrant for Sanchez’s arrest. He was taken into custody in Chicago without incident and transferred to Cook County Jail.
Sanchez faces multiple felony counts, including:
-
Criminal Sexual Abuse of a Minor
-
Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact
Prosecutors stated that the charges stem from a single incident, but added that further charges may be filed if additional victims come forward.
Community Urged to Speak Up
In a statement, Glenview police encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior involving children or vulnerable individuals.
“We take crimes involving children very seriously. If anyone has additional information related to this individual, please contact our department,” said a Glenview police spokesperson.
Court Hearing Scheduled This Week
Sanchez is being held without bond pending a court appearance later this week. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office will handle the prosecution.
Glenview officials have not commented further, citing the ongoing investigation and the privacy of the victim involved.
The original report was published by WGN-TV.
