Chicago Police Investigate 7 Separate Shootings Overnight Across the City

CHICAGO — A violent night unfolded across the city as police responded to at least seven separate shootings between late Thursday night and early Friday morning, according to the Chicago police. The shootings spanned multiple neighborhoods, with one man killed and several others injured. No arrests have been made in any of the cases so far.

Englewood Shooting Leaves 32-Year-Old Dead

The first fatal incident occurred around 9:10 p.m. in the 600 block of West 63rd Street. A 32-year-old man was walking out of a store when he was shot multiple times in the torso. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The gunman fled the scene and remains at large.

Teen Shot on Near North Side While Walking With Friends

Around 11:30 p.m., police responded to a shooting near Hobbie Street and Cambridge Avenue. An 18-year-old male was hit by gunfire while walking with a group of friends. While police have identified a person of interest, no arrests have been made. The victim is expected to survive.

Multiple Incidents in Englewood in Early Hours

A series of back-to-back shootings rattled the Englewood neighborhood during the early morning hours:

  • 1:43 a.m., a 29-year-old man was shot in the shoulder while trying to break up a fight between two women near 6700 block of South Parnell Avenue. He was hospitalized in good condition.

  • 2:05 a.m., a 56-year-old woman was shot in the right calf in the 6800 block of South Winchester. She was taken to Christ Hospital, also in good condition.

  • 2:15 a.m., another shooting occurred at a Citgo gas station on 63rd Street, just off the Dan Ryan Expressway. A 37-year-old man was sitting in his car when three men approached and opened fire, striking him in the back and elbow. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Two Men Shot in Near West Side Yard

At 2:52 a.m., two men were shot while standing in a yard in the 300 block of South Campbell Avenue. The 29-year-old was shot in the foot, and the 33-year-old in the leg. Both victims transported themselves to Stroger Hospital and were listed in good condition.

South Loop Car Break-In Leads to Gunfire

In the final incident of the night, at approximately 3 a.m., a 27-year-old man confronted a group attempting to break into his vehicle near the 2000 block of South Wabash Avenue in the South Loop. One of the suspects fired a shot, striking the man in the back. He was taken to Northwestern Hospital and is in stable condition.

Police Investigations Ongoing

All cases are currently under active investigation. Detectives from Area One, Area Three, and Area Four are assigned to various incidents. As of now, no suspects are in custody, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
