CHICAGO — A violent weekend across Chicago has left one person dead and at least 19 others injured, according to police reports compiled through early Monday morning.

Victims ranged in age from 18 to 65, and incidents spanned from public transit stations to neighborhood sidewalks and residential areas.

Deadly shooting ends in tragedy on Sunday

A 38-year-old man was shot multiple times and killed around 12:44 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of North Springfield Avenue. According to Chicago police, the man was one of three people shot during an altercation before the suspect fled.

  • A 44-year-old woman was shot in the wrist and is in good condition.
  • A 28-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and right arm and remains in critical condition.
  • A weapon was recovered at the scene.

Friday violence starts early

The first shooting occurred just before 10:30 p.m. Friday in the 300 block of West 64th Street, when a 30-year-old man walked into St. Bernard Hospital with a gunshot wound to the inner thigh. Police say the victim was uncooperative.

Later that night, a 19-year-old woman was found unresponsive in a residence on the 4300 block of West Adams Street, suffering gunshot wounds to the cheek and neck. She remains in critical condition at Mt. Sinai Hospital. Officers recovered a weapon and took a person of interest into custody.

Saturday brings widespread shootings

Multiple incidents unfolded across the city Saturday:

  • Around midnight, a 60-year-old man was shot in the 6600 block of Green Street while standing outside. He was hit in the leg and arm.
  • At 5:19 a.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg by someone in a gray SUV in the 6500 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue.
  • In the 1800 block of West 18th Street, a 25-year-old man was shot in the arm behind a residence.
  • At 9:50 p.m., a 45-year-old man was struck multiple times in the body by someone in a black vehicle while walking on South Damen Avenue.
  • Later that night, an 18-year-old man was shot in the chest and flank during a robbery on a CTA Red Line train near West 95th Street. He remains in critical condition.
  • Around 11:40 p.m., a 50-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 1000 block of North Noble Street. A second victim, a 24-year-old man, was found in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head, now in critical condition.

More Sunday gunfire erupts citywide

  • A 54-year-old man was shot in the neck around 1:07 a.m. on West Jackson Boulevard. Police later took a person of interest into custody.
  • At 2:45 a.m., a 21-year-old woman was shot in the mouth while walking near South Monitor Avenue.
  • A 31-year-old man was grazed by a bullet after a fight near South Central Avenue.
  • At 3:23 a.m., a 35-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman were shot outside in the 1800 block of South Blue Island Avenue.
  • At 4:15 a.m., a 42-year-old woman was shot in the thigh by someone in a gold car on Pulaski Road.
  • At 4:30 a.m., a 42-year-old man was shot in the back while sitting in a car on South Ashland Avenue.
  • At 6:22 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in the wrist on South Wallace Street and taken to OSF Little Company of Mary Medical Center.

Ongoing investigations

As of now, most incidents remain under investigation, and no further arrests have been announced beyond the two persons of interest previously mentioned. Police continue to ask for the public’s help in bringing forward information.
