CHICAGO — In what residents described as a “broad-daylight crime spree,” downtown Chicago saw a series of violent and chaotic events on June 17, 2025, including multiple stabbings at a popular skatepark, a man shoved onto CTA Red Line tracks, and widespread disturbances from Old Town to the South Shore.

Field Museum Disturbance and Early Warnings
The day’s unsettling pattern began around noon, when a man in his 20s was spotted wandering the Field Museum wearing only underwear, reportedly inside the building among families and children. The incident was flagged late due to Chicago Police radio encryption, further fueling criticism over city transparency.
Man Pushed Onto Red Line Tracks
Hours later at the Roosevelt Red Line station, witnesses reported a group of around 10 people surrounding a man and shoving him onto the train tracks. He was pulled to safety and miraculously survived. Skatepark Bloodbath Near Grant Park
The most violent incident occurred just steps away at the Grant Park Skate Park, near Roosevelt and Michigan. What began as a fight escalated into a knife attack, leaving three men hospitalized, including the assailant himself. First report here.
According to CWB Chicago, a 38-year-old man was stabbed multiple times and listed in critical condition. A second victim, 28, suffered a laceration to his arm but refused medical treatment. Both reportedly disarmed the attacker — a man dressed in a pirate costume — and stabbed him in return. The pirate-suspect was taken to Stroger Hospital under police guard.
A Skatepark with a Violent History
This location has a troubling past. Just last year, a man was sentenced to 25 years for a murder near the park, and in 2023, a woman was critically stabbed there.
