Flender Expands Elgin Service Center To Boost North American Operations

ELGIN — Global drive systems manufacturer Flender has officially launched an expansion of its Elgin, Illinois service center, aiming to bolster support for customers across the United States and Canada with faster service, better inventory access, and cutting-edge repair capabilities.

The announcement came during a groundbreaking ceremony held Friday, June 27, attended by local government officials. Company leadership emphasized the investment as a transformative step for the North American market.

Facility Upgrade to Support Wind and Industry Sectors

The expanded center will feature:

  • A state-of-the-art warehouse

  • In-house gear regrinding capabilities

  • Consolidated storage to improve access to key components

The facility is being constructed adjacent to Flender’s existing Elgin building and is expected to open in February 2026, according to Automation.com.

Kerry Klein, President of Flender Corporation, said the project reflects a renewed commitment to local service excellence.

“With this investment, we’re doubling down on our commitment to local service. We’re poised to significantly improve lead times, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness,” Klein said during the ceremony.

Positioned for Multi-Brand and Wind Turbine Repairs

In addition to serving the Elgin region, the center will operate in tandem with Flender’s facility in Cambridge, Ontario. Together, the two locations will handle:

  • Comprehensive repairs

  • Remanufacturing services

  • Support for multiple wind turbine platforms and drive systems

This dual-location strategy allows Flender to serve both the industrial and wind energy sectors more effectively across the continent.

The expansion reinforces Flender’s global standing and its focus on sustainability and renewable energy technology, a rising priority in many North American industries.

Economic and Local Impact

The Elgin development not only boosts Flender’s service capabilities but also brings jobs and investment to the Chicago suburb. With growing attention on sustainable infrastructure and clean energy across Illinois, the company’s investment may offer long-term returns in both economic and environmental terms.

While exact hiring numbers haven’t been disclosed, local officials at the groundbreaking voiced support for the expansion, citing it as a positive step for the regional economy.
