STREAMWOOD, IL — A heart-wrenching tragedy in the northwest suburbs has prompted an outpouring of support from the community, as a fundraiser is now underway to assist the family of two sisters who were brutally killed in their Streamwood home last week.

Two Sisters Fatally Stabbed Inside Home

According to police, 21-year-old Janiya Jenkins and her 10-year-old sister, Eyani Jones, were discovered dead inside their home on the 1600 block of McKool Avenue in the Woodland Heights East subdivision. Authorities were called to the scene Wednesday night in response to a reported stabbing.

The shocking case unfolded further over the weekend, as investigators identified the victims’ 25-year-old brother, Jalonie Jenkins, as the suspect in their deaths. He was located and arrested in Downers Grove late Sunday night, days after the stabbings occurred.

Friends of the family confirmed to WLS that all three individuals were siblings.

‘Two Beautiful Babies Were Taken Away From Us’

In the aftermath, a GoFundMe page was launched by family and friends to help with funeral arrangements and associated expenses. The page reads:

On May 28th, two beautiful babies were taken away from us. Anything will help. Thank you in advance.”

The fundraiser highlights that Janiya Jenkins leaves behind an infant child, adding even more heartbreak to an already devastating loss.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the online campaign had already raised nearly $19,000, just shy of its $20,000 goal, signaling a powerful show of solidarity from the local community and beyond.

Jalonie Jenkins In Custody

Streamwood police confirmed that Jalonie Jenkins was taken into custody without incident after being located in Downers Grove. He is expected to face multiple felony charges, including first-degree murder, in connection to the deaths of his two sisters.

Authorities have not released details about the motive behind the attack, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Community In Mourning

The loss of both a young child and a young mother has shaken the neighborhood and those who knew the family.

Many have taken to social media to share memories and condolences, while neighbors continue to place flowers and stuffed animals outside the family home.
