CHICAGO – A Heat Advisory has been issued for the entire Chicagoland area, with dangerous heat and humidity expected to build through the middle of the week. The advisory begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday and extends through 10 p.m. Thursday for most counties, according to FOX 32 Chicago.
Only DeKalb, McHenry, and LaPorte Counties will see the advisory expire earlier — by 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Heat Index Values May Reach 110 Degrees
The heat and humidity are expected to intensify rapidly starting Wednesday morning, with feels-like temperatures (heat index) climbing to upper 90s and near 100°F by midday.
By Wednesday afternoon, heat indices may spike as high as 105–110°F, with actual temperatures in the mid-90s under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.
Thursday is forecast to bring more of the same — hot, humid air, with highs in the upper 90s and continued extreme heat index levels between 100–110°F.
Storm Chances Later in the Week
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible on Thursday evening and overnight, offering a slight break in the heat for some parts of the region.
By Friday and Saturday, the forecast calls for continued warmth, with highs in the mid to upper 80s and scattered precipitation. Skies are expected to clear out Sunday, when temps return to near 90°F.
Next Week: More Heat Ahead
Looking beyond the weekend, early forecasts suggest another hot stretch for the Chicago area:
- Monday: Low 90s
- Tuesday: Upper 80s
