CHICAGO — An 18-year-old man was fatally shot by a concealed carry license holder Tuesday night after attempting a third armed robbery during a brief, violent crime spree across Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood, according to police and multiple reports.
Teen’s Crime Spree Ends in Fatal Encounter
The suspect, identified as Daone Feazell, allegedly began his spree by carjacking a man near Fulton and Kilpatrick around 10:30 p.m., according to the Chicago Police Department. Roughly 18 minutes later, police say Feazell used the stolen Toyota Corolla to rob two women at gunpoint in the 2500 block of West Haddon.
His final attempted robbery occurred around 10:48 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Artesian, where he reportedly approached a 36-year-old man unloading his vehicle and brandished a firearm. Unbeknownst to Feazell, the man was a licensed concealed carry holder — and he responded with deadly force.
The victim drew his own weapon and fired multiple rounds, striking Feazell in the head and chest, according to CPD reports.
Police Find Stolen Items in Carjacked Vehicle
Authorities said proceeds from the earlier armed robberies were recovered inside the Toyota Corolla Feazell had allegedly stolen earlier that night.
“Police found multiple stolen items inside the vehicle, linking Feazell to at least three separate incidents within less than half an hour,” a law enforcement source noted.
Feazell was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed his identity, and the investigation remains ongoing. Charges are not expected against the concealed carry holder, officials said.

Public Safety Tensions Rising in Chicago
The incident comes amid growing concern over violent crime and youth involvement in armed robberies. Humboldt Park has seen a spike in criminal activity, and this confrontation may reignite public debate over concealed carry rights, gun violence, and self-defense laws.
Local officials have not issued public comment, but online reactions suggest that many Chicagoans are fed up.
