CHICAGO — Seventeen people were arrested during Tuesday’s “No Kings” immigration protest in the Loop, with several facing felony charges following clashes with police. While Saturday’s rally proceeded peacefully, newly released police reports show a more chaotic scene earlier in the week.
Several Protesters Face Felony Charges
According to Chicago Police Department reports, protesters were arrested for a range of offenses including aggravated battery to police officers, criminal defacement, and reckless conduct.

Asnat Berestizhevsky, 27, allegedly threw water bottles at officers, striking one sergeant. A spray paint can was found in her backpack after reports of vandalism to a CPD squad car. She is charged with felony criminal damage, misdemeanor battery, and resisting.

Natalie Copeland, 20, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery of a peace officer. Police say Copeland threw an “unknown liquid” at two uniformed officers while carrying a Mexican flag near State and Washington.

Yony Salgado, 33, allegedly spat in an officer’s face after shouting obscenities. He was later arrested after fleeing the scene.

Johnathan Ellison, 37, is also charged with felony battery after reportedly throwing a bottle of unknown liquid at an officer, striking their face, vest, and pants.
Misdemeanor Charges, Resisting Arrest, and Crowd Obstruction
Other incidents included physical interference with officers attempting to maintain order:

Jordan Schnitz, 33, allegedly swung a protest sign at a CPD sergeant. Police say she became “dead weight” multiple times during the arrest and faces battery and resisting charges.

Joel Perez, 22, of Summit Argo, allegedly refused to retreat from a police line and was seen flailing his arms and throwing punches at officers near State and Monroe. He is charged with reckless conduct.

Noor Soufan, 31, is accused of pushing into a police line and injuring three officers. She faces two felony counts of battery to a peace officer and two counts of resisting arrest.

Saturday’s March Remained Peaceful
Unlike Tuesday’s clashes, the “No Kings” protest held Saturday proceeded without major incident. Some downtown businesses boarded up storefronts as a precaution, but no vandalism was reported as of early evening.
