Man Shot While Sitting In Car In Jefferson Park As Police Investigate Conflicting Witness Accounts

CHICAGO — A man was shot early Saturday morning while sitting in his car in the Jefferson Park neighborhood, prompting a police investigation now complicated by conflicting witness statements.

Shots Fired While Man Sat Inside BMW

According to the Chicago Police Department, the victim was inside a BMW parked in the 4900 block of West Gunnison Street around 1:15 a.m. when someone walked up and opened fire. The man was struck in the hand and later transported to Community First Hospital for treatment.

Police found three shell casings at the scene as they began piecing together what happened.

Conflicting Descriptions of the Gunman

Details surrounding the shooter remain unclear. The victim described two Hispanic men as the suspects, noting that one wore a baseball cap and black jersey. However, another witness offered a different account — saying they saw a Black male with dreadlocks fleeing the scene and getting into a silver SUV that was driven by someone else.

Authorities say they are currently working to resolve these discrepancies and identify the correct suspect.

Investigation Ongoing

As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made and the motive remains unclear. Area Five detectives are handling the investigation and are urging anyone with surveillance footage or additional information to come forward.
