CHICAGO — A newly released video shows a food delivery driver mistakenly driving onto the tarmac at O’Hare International Airport, coming close to several aircraft during a May 17 incident, according to Chicago police.
The 36-year-old man, who was reportedly making a food delivery, “accidentally drove into an unauthorized secured area” within the airport. No injuries were reported, and law enforcement has called the incident a mistake after completing an investigation.
Driver Was Not Charged, Officials Say
The footage, released via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request by NBC Chicago, shows the driver’s vehicle coming to a stop near an aircraft.
Shortly after parking, the video captures several uniformed personnel approaching the driver, who appears to be speaking with law enforcement and airport staff.
No Criminal Intent Found in Investigation
According to police, there was no evidence of criminal intent, and the driver’s actions were deemed unintentional. As a result, no charges were filed, and the case has been closed.
The driver’s identity has not been released publicly. It’s still unclear how the vehicle accessed the restricted area or whether any procedural lapses contributed to the error.
