The James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts (JLC) at the College of Lake County announces its fall 2022 series. “The performing arts are an important cultural asset hit hard by the pandemic,” says newly appointed Executive Director, Alisa Baum. “As we continue to recover, the JLC provides a great option for Lake County residents to see world class entertainment in their own backyard.”

We are thrilled to announce our line-up of shows for the 2022/2023 season that offers a fun theater experience that the whole family can enjoy! This year our new season will begin in September with our fall show, the world premier of Tuesday Morning #neverforget. This Christmas we bring back the beloved story, Miracle on 34th Street.
Our Kids and Family series continues with the timeless tale of a girl named Dorothy and her journey over the rainbow in the beloved musical, The Wizard of Oz. Next, we tackle Alfred Hitchcock’s madcap mystery, The 39 Steps, with 100 characters portrayed by only 4 actors. We will close our season with the feel-good classic musical, Singin’ in the Rain. And yes…it will rain on our stage!

Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University
The Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University presents over 30 productions, serving over 50,000 audience members annually. With free parking, convenient access by Metra or I-57, and one of the best free sculpture parks in the country, Governors State has something for the entire family. The Center’s 2022-23 season includes The Nutcracker presented by The State Ballet Theatre of Ukraine and Air Play presented by Acrobuffos.
The Nutcracker features Tchaikovsky’s beloved score with instantly recognizable holiday music, including “Waltz of the Flowers,” “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” “Waltz of the Snowflakes,” and more.
In Air Play umbrellas fly, fabrics soar over the audience, balloons swallow people, and snow swirls, filling the stage. With stunning images and gales of laughter, Air Play bounces on the edge of definition: part comedy, part sculpture, part circus, part theater.

Since 1931, Wheaton Drama, Inc has been providing quality community theatre entertainment to Wheaton and its surrounding suburbs. Opening our 2022-2023 season, will be the high-energy, foot-tapping musical, “Sister Act.” The show runs from September 16-October 9 at our theatre located at 111 N. Hale St. in downtown Wheaton.
