CHICAGO — The frustration in Chicago is boiling over — and now it’s going national. In a heated appearance on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, lifelong Chicagoan Vashon Tuncle delivered a powerful takedown of city leadership, saying what many residents have been feeling: “Our city sucks because our mayor sucks.”
Speaking directly to former ICE Director Tom Homan, Tuncle vented about what he called failed priorities under Mayor Brandon Johnson and Governor J.B. Pritzker.
“You’re actually doing a better job than the mayor is when it comes to listening to us,” Tuncle told Homan on-air.
Residents Say City Is in Crisis
During the interview, Tuncle highlighted major grievances — from rising homelessness and poverty to the allocation of hundreds of millions toward resources for undocumented immigrants.
“It’s not the right thing to do as a mayor when you have a 14% approval rating,” Tuncle said.
Frustration has reportedly spilled into public meetings, with residents being removed from city forums for speaking out. Tuncle says people are being ignored and punished simply for raising concerns.
As reported by Fox News, the backlash is gaining momentum — especially as the city’s struggles are amplified by national attention.
ICE’s Tom Homan Promises Action in Chicago
Joining the segment, Tom Homan pledged to return to Chicago with federal agents as part of a broader public safety initiative — even if it means clashing with local leadership.
“The mayor sucks, and the governor sucks because they’re protecting illegal aliens, especially criminal illegal aliens,” Homan said, promising, “We can make the city safer — with or without [Mayor Johnson’s] help.”
Homan also mentioned meeting with pastors and community leaders who are seeking real change on the ground.
Growing Pressure on City Hall
The situation in Chicago has become a national flashpoint. With the mayor facing intensifying criticism and approval ratings near rock bottom, political observers say the next few months will be a critical test for the Johnson administration.
Fox News host Laura Ingraham ended the segment with a stark message: “If I know one thing about Tom Homan, he’s unstoppable once he has the authority to act.”
