Pistol-Whippings, Phone Passcodes, and a Stolen Infiniti Armed Robbery Crew Strikes Across Chicago’s West Side

CHICAGO — A violent robbery spree is gripping neighborhoods across Chicago’s West Side, with police linking at least eight armed holdups in just three days to a crew using a stolen gray Infiniti and terrifying tactics.

Victims have been pistol-whipped, forced to give up their phone passcodes, and in some cases robbed at gunpoint while sitting in parked cars. Chicago police say the pattern of attacks suggests a coordinated effort—and the offenders are showing no signs of stopping.

West Loop Robbery Caught on Camera

The most recent incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. Friday in the 300 block of North Laflin Street in the West Loop. Surveillance video shows a red vehicle with three victims inside—two men, 32 and 46, and a 43-year-old woman—when a gray Infiniti Q50 pulled up.

Within seconds, two masked men jumped out, approached both sides of the victims’ car, and held them at gunpoint. They took valuables and fled southbound. No injuries were reported in that case, but police are treating it as part of the broader pattern.

String of Robberies Across Logan Square, West Town, and Medical Center

An hour earlier in Logan Square, a 32-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint near the 2700 block of North Milwaukee by three men who leapt from a dark sedan. She complied, and the suspects fled into an alley.

Earlier reports show the spree began around 7 a.m. Thursday in West Town, where three masked men assaulted a woman in the 1400 block of West Carroll, pistol-whipping her twice in the head before stealing her phone and purse.

Later that morning, two victims were targeted inside a parking garage at Rush University Medical Center. Two men in black clothing armed with handguns stole a Coach bag and a maroon backpack, then fled in a matching vehicle.

Offenders Hit Multiple Targets in Quick Succession

By Friday, the crew’s aggression ramped up. At 7:40 a.m., three masked men robbed a man in the 1200 block of West Carroll. Just 40 minutes later, another attempted robbery unfolded, but the suspects fled empty-handed.

Two more robberies followed within an hour:

  • 800 block of West Blackhawk at 9:14 a.m.

  • 900 block of West Weed Street near Goose Island at 9:26 a.m.

In all cases, the suspects fled in the same stolen gray Infiniti, often with stolen license plates to evade detection.

Who’s Behind It? What Police Know

Chicago police believe the suspects are two to four Black males, ages 16 to 25, often seen in dark hooded sweatshirts and black ski masks. Their strategy includes fast getaways, physical violence, and stealing phones—presumably to extract information or resell them.

CPD has issued multiple community alerts, warning residents not to resist during a robbery and to observe identifying details if possible—such as scars, limps, or distinctive clothing—but to avoid chasing suspects.
