Summer break is right around the corner, and for teenagers across the Midwest—and the country—Planet Fitness is offering a chance to stay active, boost mental health, and build healthy habits. The gym chain has relaunched its High School Summer Pass, a national program granting free gym access to teens ages 14–19 all summer long.
What Is the High School Summer Pass?
Originally started in response to rising mental health concerns post-pandemic, the High School Summer Pass allows high school students to work out for free at any participating Planet Fitness location from June 1 to August 31, 2025.
The program is designed to encourage fitness, social engagement, and overall wellness among teens—especially during the months when school is out and structured activities may be limited.
Key Details:
-
Eligibility: Ages 14–19 (students under 18 must sign up with a parent or guardian)
-
Dates: Valid from June 1 to August 31, 2025
-
Access: Free membership to one selected Planet Fitness location
-
Extras: Access to group fitness classes and app-based tracking
Craig Benson, Interim CEO at Planet Fitness, emphasized the importance of this initiative:
“Many teens continue to be impacted by the long-term mental health effects from the pandemic. Studies show that regular exercise significantly improves their well-being. We’re proud to support teens on their health journey this summer.”
How to Sign Up
Interested students can pre-register online now by visiting planetfitness.com/summerpass. Upon registration, they’ll be asked to choose their preferred location—and that’s the gym they’ll have access to all summer.
Important: Teens under 18 need a parent or guardian to complete the registration with them.
The membership is tied to the specific location selected at sign-up and can’t be transferred to other branches.
Local Value for Midwest Teens
For families in suburban Chicago and surrounding Midwest communities, the program is more than just a fitness perk—it’s a safe, structured environment during long summer days. Whether teens are looking to stay in shape, try new workouts, or simply have a healthy way to spend time with friends, this initiative offers a reliable option at zero cost.
Schools, community centers, and youth advocates are encouraged to spread the word and help students take advantage of the program before summer kicks off.
