CHICAGO — A 36-year-old man with a valid Concealed Carry License (CCL) shot a suspect during an attempted armed robbery late Tuesday night on the West Side, according to Chicago police.
The incident occurred around 10:48 p.m. in the 1400-block of North Artesian Avenue, near Hirsch Street, in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood. Police say the man was retrieving something from his vehicle when he was approached by an unknown male who pulled a gun and tried to rob him.
According to this police report summary, the licensed CCL holder pulled out his own firearm and shot the suspect multiple times.
Suspect In Critical Condition At Stroger Hospital
The unidentified suspect was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he remains in critical condition, officials said.
The CCL holder was not injured and remained on the scene to speak with responding officers. It’s unclear whether a weapon was recovered from the suspect.
Investigation Active — No Charges Yet
CPD Area Five detectives are actively investigating the case. As of Wednesday afternoon, no charges have been filed, and authorities are continuing to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses.
