CHICAGO — A popular hairstylist from Chicago has died after reportedly falling off a yacht during a party with friends, prompting heartbreak across the city and raising questions about the circumstances of the incident.
Hairstylist Drowns During Yacht Party Livestream
The tragic event occurred while the woman, identified by friends and followers on social media as a well-known stylist, was livestreaming from a yacht party. The incident happened over the weekend and was captured by multiple people in real time on Instagram.
Moments after she was seen partying and dancing with friends, witnesses say she disappeared from view — and minutes later, reports emerged that she had fallen into the water.
Friends and Viewers Shocked by Sudden Disappearance
The incident quickly gained traction online, as stunned followers noted that the woman appeared to vanish mid-livestream. Some claimed to have seen splashing in the background. A frantic search followed, but she was later confirmed deceased.
Social media erupted with grief and speculation, especially as people began comparing the case to that of Kenneka Jenkins, a Chicago teen who mysteriously died in a hotel freezer in 2017.
No Foul Play Confirmed Yet, Police Investigating
As of now, the Chicago Police Department has not publicly released the name of the victim or confirmed any details about the cause of death. No foul play has been officially determined, but the investigation is ongoing.
A spokesperson for the department said, “We are aware of the circulating video and have opened an investigation. Preliminary findings indicate this may have been an accidental drowning.”
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to release an official ruling in the coming days.

Community Reacts with Grief and Anger
Many in the Chicago beauty and influencer communities have taken to social media to express shock and sadness. Several noted that the woman was an active part of the local hairstyling scene and known for uplifting others through her work and presence.
“She didn’t deserve this. We were literally watching her live and then… she was gone,” one follower wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Connected to Kenneka Jenkins?
The comparisons to Kenneka Jenkins stem from both the victim’s close friendship with Jenkins before her 2017 death and the eerily similar nature of sudden loss during a social outing. That case also sparked national outrage and remains a sensitive topic in Chicago’s Black community.
