Showers Possible With Sunshine Returning By Midweek in Chicago

CHICAGO — After a pleasant Saturday start, the Chicago area should prepare for scattered late-night showers and possible thunderstorms rolling in late Saturday through early Sunday, according to FOX 32 Meteorologist Mark Strehl.

While the weekend won’t be a total washout, the weather could shift quickly — especially Sunday afternoon.

What To Expect This Weekend

A weakening cold front is expected to pass through late Saturday night into early Sunday, bringing:

  • A chance of thunder and gusty winds

  • Hazy skies early Sunday morning due to Canadian wildfire smoke

  • Increasing cloud cover by Sunday afternoon

“There’s a 55% chance of late-day showers or thunderstorms on Sunday,” Strehl noted in his latest forecast update.

Sunday’s high: ~78°F
Sunday night low: ~58°F

Looking Ahead: Midweek Sunshine Returns

Rain could linger into Monday morning, though the chance of precipitation drops to 40%.

By midweek, Chicago residents can expect sunny skies and a noticeable warming trend:

  • Wednesday & Thursday highs: Mid-80s

  • Skies: Mostly sunny

  • Humidity: Expected to remain moderate
