CHICAGO — Police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run that left a 26-year-old man dead early Saturday morning on the North Side, with the driver still at large.
Body found near Lake Shore Drive
Authorities say the victim was discovered unresponsive around 3:30 a.m. in the 3600 block of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive in the Lakeview neighborhood. He was lying near the street when emergency responders arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial reports from ABC7 Chicago indicate the man had been struck by a vehicle traveling northbound, which then fled without stopping to offer help or call police.
No witnesses, no vehicle description yet
As of now, police have not released any details about the suspect vehicle or the driver. The car reportedly continued north but has not been identified. There were no witnesses available at the scene to provide further description.
CBS News Chicago reported that traffic in the area was temporarily blocked as investigators worked the scene and collected potential evidence from nearby traffic cameras and surroundings.
Police ask public for assistance
The incident has left local residents shaken, especially given the lack of leads. Police are urging anyone who may have been in the area around that time or who has dashcam footage to come forward.
