CHICAGO — A brutal sexual assault and robbery in Garfield Park has prompted Chicago police to issue a public safety alert for residents in the 11th District, warning them to remain vigilant while investigators search for a suspect still at large.
According to the official Chicago Police Department community alert, the attack took place shortly after midnight on June 7 near the 3900 block of W. Huron Street.
Victim Assaulted In Vacant Lot
Police say the victim, an adult woman, was forcibly taken into an empty lot, where she was sexually assaulted and robbed by an unknown male. The assailant fled the scene immediately following the attack, police said.
The incident has raised alarms across the neighborhood, with authorities calling the crime “aggravated criminal sexual assault.”
